MOPS

I attend our town's MOPS group (Mothers Of Preschoolers), and I have really enjoyed all the meetings this year. Peter looks forward to playing with "buddies" (Breanna doesn't really have a preference either way), and I look forward to some intelligent conversation with other women in similar circumstances as I.

Sometimes we do a craft, and this week I really like the little box things. They're supposed to be used for filing pictures, but I (of course) use it to store yarn. I think it's the perfect size to store my stash of scarf yarn, too.

This MOPS meeting really was a great blessing to me, and the speaker, Chris P., said exactly what I needed to hear. Her topic was "Rainy Day Play". She had so many great suggestions and ideas, but I think the thing that struck me the most was her insistence that moms must be patient and unselfish with their time. (Me, patient? What? Yeah right!). There are times when my list of things must get done, but too often I place my silly priorities above the needs of my kids. She said, "give the kids 5 undivided minutes of your time, and they'll repay you with 15 minutes of free time." She's exactly right.

So, armed with her useful list of places to go and things to do, I headed down to our local teaching supply store and got a few fun things for the kids and I. I got some really neat dot markers, and Peter had lots of fun this afternoon dotting around the paper. I like them because they're not messy like finger paint. Perhaps I'll start posting my son's exquisite art work soon!
