Perhaps it is the Dutch in me, but I have recently discovered that biking is my favorite form of exercise. Now, granted, I don't really enjoy exercise in any form, but biking is the least odious to me.
Today was the third time this week that I've taken the kids for a bike ride. I've been wanting to try out the new bike trailer that I picked up at a garage sale for $50, so today seemed a good opportunity as I don't have to teach until 3:00.
I was hoping to make it all the way to the little airport here, which is about 3+ miles, but, alas, it was just too hot and Breanna's squawking got on my nerves. I think I got about 2 1/2 miles, though, making the total about 5 miles.
I've definitely got some Hawaiian in me, too, though, because I got a terrific farmer's tan from my t-shirt. (Every other time I've been out in the sun for any length of time I've worn a tank-top. *Sigh*).

Many, many kudos to you! Wow! A five mile bike ride and you were lugging your two little ones too??? Amazing! :)
I need to come to see you to go to the yard sales! You got that bike trailer for $50?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I am envious; I want one so bad. I LOVE to bike ride, but with the passing of years, my "bad" knee makes it more difficult to make long treks... Keep up the good work! I hope it's paying off for you already! Enjoy.
Oh I can't wait until I get to pull my grandbabies on that bike!!! It seems like yesterday that we were living in Hawaii and I had a big yellow one. I used to pull Nathan on it as I rode with you Rachel to the school bus stop stop on the other side of the Air Force Base! Its a great way for the kids to get fresh air and gel all tuckered out. See you soon!!!
Love YOU,
MOM
I hope we can go on the bike trail maybe in the early morning when it's not sooo hot.
When I remember biking as a kid, I think of Fort Monroe and the docks. We could ride for miles up and down the level docks. We used to roller skate, too, but I LOVED riding bikes. I can remember a picture of me and my good friend from school, I think her name was Cassandra. Anyway, some of my fondest memories as a kid were on a bike. Even during that long trek we did in Williamsburg, I loved that! :)
I think yo inspired another blog. :) Love, Angie
(Boy you've been a busy blogger over the past few days...)
