Last weekend Peter and I went out on a date to the Superhero Ball, which is given for mothers and their sons. 
It was a lot of fun, because Peter got to dress up in his Transformers costume and I got to dress up too. My superpower was being able to take care of three kids without losing my mind.Sort of.
When we got to the banquet facility, a DJ was playing music and all the kids were dancing and trying to catch the bubbles from the bubble machine.
Peter didn't like it at first, because the music was SO LOUD. He seemed a bit overwhelmed, poor thing! All those Supermen and Batmen and other heroes!
He got his face painted to look like Spider Man, but he wanted it washed off about 5 minutes after it dried. It was a good thing, too, because he was starting to break out from an allergic reaction to the face paint. Poor thing.
I think that on the whole he had a good time, but I guess it wasn't quite as fun for him as I thought it would be. He really enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies and the ice cream sundaes (he had two servings). The main reason for his disappointment was that his expectations were totally different than mine, and looking back on it, I should have explained better what a "Superhero Ball" was about. For instance, he expected Batman and Superman to be there fighting each other.
In a way, there was a Batman and a Superman fighting each other, but it wasn't nearly as impressive to Peter since they were both his height.His favorite part of the whole evening was afterwards, when he and I waltzed into the local Chinese buffet wearing our costumes and got a late night dinner. He just loved that. My boy can eat his weight in Chinese food. I think that's his superpower.

Aww, what a great mother/son memory maker! I was quite entertained reading about the too-loud music and the make-up reaction...but Chinese food saved the day! Yay!
Peter will always be my special super hero. I can't wait to see him for myself in that super getup. Maybe I should bring my Oprimus Prime costume and we can play together!
Caleb gets a horrible reaction to facepaint. He's not allowed to get it, especially red paint. We just steer clear of all, just in case. He swells up terribly.
What a nice event for both of you. Glad you both could have a date. That's nice and I'm sure he loved it, especially since Gaby has come on the scene. :)
Can't wait to see Optimus Prime and all the superheroes. :)
How nice to have one kid to yourself. Hope the handyman had the home scene in control and you did not return to devastation. Lucky you are a supermom!

That was a nice event for you both, but that's awful about the makeup causing an allergic reaction! ...and to finish it all off with Chinese food, yum :)
