Stash-Happy

I can't believe what wonderful students the Lord has given me. They are such a joy to teach anyway, but the stash of Christmas stuff they've given me is just astonishing! Today I got even more gifts. My piano top was covered with cookie mixes, stockings of goodies, hot cocoa mixes, and mugs. I am so blessed with thoughtful students.

Breanna enjoyed eating the chocolate chip cookies I got from one of my students. Her mom is trying to start a home-business selling them. I have to admit, they're the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had.

Since I'm on the stashing theme, I decided to organize my own yarn stash. I hadn't realized what a collection of yarn I'm getting. I wish I could say it is all 100% wool or mohair yarns, but, alas, I think I am an acrylic junkie. With two little kiddies that are so hard on clothes, how can I knit them something that is less than indestructible? I wonder if I could knit them a suit of armor . . . .

I splurged and bought myself a swift and yarn-baller from Joann's, so I've been using my new purchases to re-wind my yarn. (I got 50% on both items). I had sooooooo much fun using the yarn baller. I was half-hoping it would be worthless, so I could just return it to the store and ease my conscience about my splurge-purchase. Looks like that's not happening any time soon.

Here's the yarn stash before (notice Breanna's arms trying to grab my yarn) . . . . .

. . . . and after. (Of course it's in a plastic tote. Yarn and plastic totes are like double cream lattes; so addicting together . . .)Then, last night, Josh and Tom (Andy's brothers) came over for dinner and a game of Settlers. Josh came home from Pensacola Christian College the day before, so we wanted to spend some time with him. I just love playing Settlers, but I almost never win. Tom won spectacularly. It must have been a good night for Tom. He enjoyed my cooking for once (he's sooooooo picky), and beat us all at Settlers.

Look's like you had a very pleasent time. Be happy about your little "splurge". I finally got to switch over to the new version of Blogger. I have to admit it is a little harder to use for me than the old version. But I'm sure I'll get used to it! I've been admiring your nice new shiny blog since you've made the switch, and decided it'd be ok if I did it too. So needless to say, my blog is under construction at the moment.
