Well, I've gotten some very nice knitting done lately. First of all, here is -yes- another picture of my hat and mittens. As the temperature tonight is forecast at 20 below zero (with windchill factor), they will definitely come in handy!
The buttons for my Rohan Cardi finally came in to Joann's, so I sewed them on. I'll try to get a picture of myself wearing my cardigan soon. I just need some daylight and someone to take a picture of me! Don't you think these buttons look delightfully "Tolkien-ish"?
This pretty red yarn will soon be a sweater for my newest Leverton nephew, Jacob Wayne. I just love the book The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett, and the character "Matti" is wearing the most beautiful red cabled sweater. I'm designing this sweater to match "Matti's". I thought giving the sweater with The Gingerbread Baby book would make a nice baby gift, don't you think? It'll be a little late, but better late than never!
Okay, that concludes the "Nice" part of the post. Now comes the "Naughty".
I have been VERY naughty, indeed. Did I mention that I made a trip to Joann's to pick up some buttons? Well, temptation got the better of me, and I bought MORE yarn (as if my yarn stash isn't full enough already).
Joann's ribbon yarn was clearanced for $1.25 a skein, and I could just hear those little bundles whispering to me. It was saying, "look at our beautiful spring colors . . . . . Can't you just imagine spring coming soon?" The temptation was even more strong, as I had just read my sister's post, which contained several cruel (very cruel) pictures of her trip to the Caribbean. Beautiful turquoise water and vividly green palm trees . . . . .
So what am I going to use this yarn for? Who knows. I've been envisioning myself designing some sort of lacy shirt with a tank underneath. At least looking at such cheery colors makes me feel cheerful!

The red sweater and Gingerbread Baby book sound like a really great idea for a baby gift. Happy knitting! Stay warm, isn't this weather just dreadful?
I agree with Danielle's post (and yours) about the book and sweater being a great gift.
Look at those pretty colours in your new yarn...that is going to make something nice!
Now you've piqued my interest... I'm going to have to get my hands on a copy of this book and read it. The yarn colors are definitely pretty - and very "spring-like". I think your idea about the shirt with tank underneath is a great idea. Hard to think about with this FRIGID weather though, isn't it? We're only supposed to have a high of 12 degrees all week! yuck, yuck, and more yuck. ;/ Stay warm and happy knitting!
Cool buttons. :)
Don't start knitting that tank too soon, though. I heard its unnaturally cold up there right now. And we actually have snow down here! What's going on??
This blog absolutely crax me up! You are a knitting fool...Ha. We are definitely related. When I start into something, I go crazy with it. I absolutely love the mittens and hat. Don't you need a scarf to go with it? :) I've been wanting to crochet you one, but with all your knitting talent...I'm not sure it'd be "worthy." Stealing a phrase Caleb likes to use, crochet seems so "last season." Ha! Pls let me know if you still need or want a crocheted scarf. I can quickly whip one up for you. I have some other goodies planned for you bday, but I'd love to crochet a scarf, too. I love to crochet. :)
Love the buttons...very celtic and Lord of the Ring-ish. :) Wow, look at that yarn you got! The colors are very nice and springy. Have fun with all that.
I'm sorry about the Caribbean post....If it makes you feel any better, I'm freezing in my rec room right now. The heat doesn't work well in this room. I want to crawl under my covers in bed! :) Love ya, Angie
