We have had beautiful weather today, and I think the warm temperatures are supposed to continue through the week. My lovely daffodils are just starting to perk up after the last minute snow fall a few days ago.
The kids really enjoyed playing outside this afternoon. We have a small fish pond in the back yard, and I really have to watch them, or they will be in with the fishes!
Speaking of fishes, we were very saddened to see that two of our most lovely koi died. I think the warmer weather makes the fish frisky, and two of them jumped out of the pond. We found them this morning, all covered in dirt and quite stiff.
We got the fish from my Uncle Paul last spring, and they have grown from tiny little things to be about 7 inches long. All winter they stayed in the basement in a large watering trough Andy got from Menards.
This afternoon we held a burial for them and put them in the garden. The burial was for Peter's sake, and putting them in the garden was for mine (great fertilizer . . .)

Daffodils! Green grass! Dirt! A pond! -We've forgotten what all those things are up here! Sorry about the koi. (Do you still have some in your pond?) -Glad you're having good weather.
So sad to hear about your koi:(
The daffodils are really great, though and I'm so glad spring in springing!
Such a loss when a fish dies. I had one at my office for about 2 years (one of those fighting fish) and one day I got to work and noticed the vase was empty. I looked around and on the floor was my dried up fish, he had jumped out most likely during the night after I left work. I think something in their brain goes wonky and they jump out of the water.
I have no idea why this came to mind..."Woe to Bonzai Fish." I guess my visual of fish jumping out of the pond is more funny that it properly should be. I'm sorry about the fish! :( I hope that you still have a few in there. I thought you had more than two...Hope Petesy wasn't too traumatized by it all. That can be difficult for a little guy. Caleb STILL talks about Lily and Holly (our dogs) that died. It's not easy. Love you guys.
