Gardens are happy when they're carpeted. I haven't discovered yet if plants prefer plush carpeting or shag, though. I'll let you know when they tell me. (So far, I've had to weed 4 times. The strain is really killing me.)
Free apple trees are much better. They realize their lowly beginnings, and so strive to achieve better things for themselves.
Stick to what you can grow. I fail miserably with orchids, the Fleuren family plant, but roses love me for some odd reason. Alas, I once preferred orchids, but roses are fast winning my affections. If you don't have a green thumb, grow plastic plants. They need people too.
This is going to be a bumper crop year for grapes. During the best harvest I've ever had, I picked 10 5-gallon buckets of grapes. This year makes that past harvest look like a drought. I'm thinking I'll get at least 20 5-gallon buckets. (Let's see, 5 gallons of wine makes 20 bottles, so that translates into . . . . oh. my. goodness. Hee hee!)

Thanks for thinking of us 'non-green-thumb' people out there. Plastic are so much easier. You just have to dust them. :)
Love your musings...
Your garden looks wonderful. Mine not so much.
Your garden is amazing. The soil must be better on that side of town. :(
Hmmm...looks like you all will have a nice New years with all that wine! What a nice garden you have...How in the world do you find time to care for a garden, children...and Knit! :) Angie
Garden looks great!!! Ours is just starting to really take off, ... but of course has only been planted for a month now... I told Matt about the carpet,... he seems to think I'm a little loopy for suggesting it! ;) I don't know... LOL
