Getting Ready

It's hard to believe that in less than 48 hours I, Handyman, and Baby Gabe will be on our way to the sunny island of Saba. In between packing and making lists of things to pack, I've tried to ignore the paroxysms of panic that grip me at the thought of leaving my other two hooligans for an entire week with my mother in law - it just seems cruel to my mother in law.

Perhaps some rift in the universe will open and swallow them up.

Perhaps a marauding cow will carry them off to a field in Wisconsin.

Perhaps my dear mother in law will run screaming for the hills. (Oh wait, there aren't any hills nearby).

A mother's mind works in very odd ways. I know this for two reasons; 1) I am a mother, and 2) I have a mother (sorry Mum).

Yes, its true. You didn't learn this from strangers. My mind is always working overtime working through all the various scenarios of what my children could be doing or have done to them... I will say, it is getting better now, however it is still a problem. I hope you can have a few minutes of peace from it all :) Love You!

HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME! You are sooooo funny! I'm rapidly learning that by some odd freak of nature, in some alternate universe, my kids are always better behaved for others than they are for me... LOL.

Praying for safe travel!

I agree with Ellen. my children are always MUCH better behaved for some else than for me. And they aren't bad for me. Try to enjoy your trip and just know that you will appreciate them SO MUCH MORE when you get back! :-) Have fun! Can't wait to see pics!

I once left my husband and young daughter with my mom for her to take care of them for a week. She said the kidlet was easy but my husband tried her patience...

Your mom obviously did a great job with you. As my mom would say, "Breathe, dear, breathe." And have fun! Take lots of photos! --Syl, reporting that DD ate sausage this morning. You are a blessing.

You deserve a break! After all, MIL raised the handyman so I suspect she'll do fine (and so will the hooligans:)
