Vroom Vroom!

My baby Gabe loves cars and anything else that chugs, spits gasoline, and pollutes the earth. Anyway, I was running low on bibs and decided to remedy that shocking situation by making a few car bibs for my automotive maniac - um- mechanic.

First, I placed an old bib that was the correct size for Gabe onto my fabric (double thickness) and traced around it with a pencil giving the new bib a 1/2" seam allowance, except for the neck area where I used the actual bib size.
From there, I cut out some cars from car fabric that I already had on hand, and used an applique stitch on my sewing machine to sew the cars onto the top part of the bib.
Using a leftover blue sheet, I made some bias tape and sewed the bias around the edge, being sure to catch both the front embroidered bib and the back plain bib.
Finally, I sewed a quick little velcro closure onto both neck edges for easy off and on.
That was it! Surprisingly, it was the bias edging that took the longest to make. I think in the future I'd choose a more square bib style as opposed to the violin-shaped bib, as it would make the bias easier to sew on. Still, I'm glad I was able to make these, as Gabe thinks they're the coolest thing ever. It's worth the work to see him poke his fat tummy and say delightedly, "Cawr, cawr!"
(I am very annoyed to have to say that the next few posts might have very blurry photos. Apparently some little fingers found their way onto my camera lens and smudged it up, unbeknownst to me.)

I have to say that currently I don't like you at all. you are getting WAY to crafty for my taste. So CUT IT OUT! (get it? cut it out? craft? *sigh* fine...)

How cool...Baby Gaby has such curly sweet hair. His little cousin could also use a fun bib, if you have any extra girly material. :)) She'd love it!!
