Pumpkins for a Lil’ Pumpkin

IMG_4541
My SiL Kathy had her baby shower recently, and for the baby gift she requested a pumpkin hat for her baby girl, who is due any day now.

Although I was hoping to find something a bit softer than acrylic yarn, I couldn’t find anything local that was the precise “pumpkin” shade that was also merino wool.  I ended up using Vanna’s Choice yarn from JoAnn fabrics.  It’s not my favorite, but I’m happy with the finished result.

The hat pattern I used is the Berry Hat, which I modified to look more like a pumpkin by working a K3, P2 ribbing after I did the rolled brim.

Of course I couldn’t just stop with a hat.  After all, Kathy’s expecting a girl, and everyone knows a truly fashionable girl has a matching hat and shoes!

PumpkinCollageFor the booties I used a mish-mash of several patterns, which would most likely bore anyone but non-knitters, and probably the knitters as well.  If you are really that interested, you can view the detailed changes I made on my ravelry page here.

Ridiculously cute... Why you are not making these en masse and selling them is beyond me.... Everyone I've shown these to at work gushes :P

Seriously! ...I agree with Joosh, who I am jealous doesn't seem to respond to my blog posts. I need to add him to my links. :)

Rach is awesome and should make more goodies to sell.

Here, here! I concur! These are the CUTEST! I can't imagine how ADORABLE the little cutie pie is going to be with these on! You should post a pic of her wearing them when she arrives! :)

Love love love them!! Thank you so much for these. The hat already fits her and I need to take a picture of her wearing her "ensemble." :D
