The Trouble with Temptation

Well, according to the inestimable knitter Mrs. Zimmermann, I should reinforce the heels of my worsted-weight socks with nylon yarn. Not having any such thing on hand, I sallied forth to the LYS (local yarn shop, for you non-knitters).

Now, Verna of Verna's Yarn Shop is a sweet old thing, but her inventory isn't always the finest. Most of her stuff is something you'd expect a dear elderly lady to find attractive - in other words, lots of scratchy wool and fun fur. Imagine my surprise when I found . . . . . .
Now, in my snoopings from blog to blog, I have often read other knitters describing their infatuation with yarn. I like to collect yarn myself, but I don't consider myself a yarn addict, at least in the sense of being addicted to a particular kind of yarn.

I have now joined the ranks of addicted yarn junkies.

Want to know what gives me a "fiber high"? Patons Sws Soy/Wool blend. It's so shiny and soft I can't seem to stop stroking it; I think my cat is getting jealous. I figured I was fairly safe from my new craving, though, because Joann's in Freeport doesn't carry this particular yarn. Now, horror of horrors, I've discovered it in my own, innocent town! What am I going to do? Worst of all, she has all the delightful colors Patons carries!

Oh dear, dear me. I am in deep trouble.

You are in trouble! Once you find a yarn you love like that, then you need all the colors they make in it. I know the symptoms, yarn stores and yarn sections at stores call to me everywhere I go.....

Yes, yarn addiction is an insidious thing, hee hee. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting SWS, but now I'll be on the lookout!

Hey Rach,

What are you doing with the yarn that's this color? Are you making something for yourself with it? I know you typically like that color, so I was just wondering. Don't ask why! ;) Angie
