An Evening at the Beach

This evening I had two students cancel their piano lessons, so I got done teaching earlier than usual. Since the weather was so beautiful, the kids and I went outside to do some yard work.

The first thing on our list was to clean out Peter's sandbox. The poor child hasn't been able to play in his sandbox for about 6 months. The lid was left off a couple of times, and the neighborhood cats . . . well, you get the idea. (Cats + sandbox = ______) Unfortunately for Peter the weather got really cold soon after, and water froze in the sand, making it impossible to clean out.

Today I finally got around to changing the sand, and he and the neighborhood kids inaugurated this auspicious event by making a HUGE mess - exactly what sandboxes are for! I had to give him a second bath this evening, but it was well worth the effort. After all, dirt is essential for a little boy's growth!

Hasn't the weather been great for getting the kids outside lately? Just think, soon it really will be warm enough for an evening at the beach LOL!!
