Crochet Rug

My friend Esther expressed an interest in crocheting a rug, and since I am easily led astray, I decided to try making one too.

What can I say? I have a weak character. It's a hopeless cause.

I prefer crocheted rugs over knitted ones, since knit fabric tends to stretch more than crochet, and a rug should be rather stiff and sturdy.
Having said that, I still would rather be knitting. Crochet really makes my wrist ache.

This rug is worked using three strands of worsted weight yarn at one time, making it extra thick. While I'm not usually a fan of Red Heart yarn, I think it's perfect for rugs. A million years from now when Aliens are excavating ruins here on earth, they'll most likely find empty plastic water bottles and piles of Red Heart yarn. I'm not kidding; the stuff's indestructible.

Best thing about it? It's machine washable.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the blue. Where do you plan to use this rug, out of curiosity? I honestly have to say that I do not think I've seen a crocheted rug before.... I like! ;) Very nice work, as always.

It turned out great! Didn't take you long at all to finish it.
Lol, I crocheted a lot yesterday and my wrist is also giving me grief! Perhaps I'll soon take your offer to learn knitting if it's easier on the wrists.
