Yes, I have a closet addiction.
(And NO, we're not talking about yarn here. My yarn addiction can't fit in the closet).
I love aprons.
The disease first started with the germ passed to me from my dearly departed friend, Flipflopping Mama. FFM has a magnificent collection of aprons, and whenever she's in the kitchen, she whips one off her display shelf with a panache that says, "I'm June Cleaver, Jackie O, AND Marilyn Monroe all wrapped up in a fabulous apron."
(Dawn of the Evil Breathing can keep her anti-apron comments to herself.)
Then, the disease/addiction really got a hold of my craving innards when All-Natural Mama gave me my first handmade apron, a lovely thing with yellow lemons.
I've been sewing aprons ever since. I can't stop. I sew aprons and give them to people so that I have an excuse to sew more.
This is an apron I sewed as a birthday present for my friend Esther, who has a fabulous poetry blog (go check it out here).
Esther likes damask, so I tried to go for a vintage/funky look with the blue and teal colors. I put a little more work into this one than the pattern calls for, because I made some brown accent piping and added a ruffled pocket.
Sooooooo cute.
Oh well, I'll just have to make another one!
