After our stay in Grammy and Grampy's house, we all went to Hunting Island to spend a few days at the beach.
Other than Hawaii (which we all know is superior to any other beach place), Hunting Island is my favorite seashore place to visit. The beach is long, shallow, and perfect for kids.
It's a bit far from the more touristy places, so it's never very crowded, making it easy to keep an eye on the kids and get some knitting done at the same time.
Ella hadn't needed to use a feeding tube since Maryland, and at the beach she especially seemed to thrive. She ate well, slept well, and had as much fun as the other kids.
The kids spent most of every day there finding crabs and sea shells in the line of rocks on one part of the beach (poor crabs).
My niece Michelle was also with us, and it was lovely to see her play with the other kids and have such a nice time.
Most of the time we cooked in the camper, but one night we did go to a fancy restaurant (well, fancy as in expensive) for some fish. It would have been nothing short of appalling if we went to the beach and didn't get any seafood to eat, after all!
Of all the places we got to go this summer, being at the beach was my favorite!
